27 Months

Notice the panties over the jammies. It's the new style.
Daddy gets the credit for this outfit, including the slippers, which were worn in public. Jeff's response to my objections: "What's the point of having kids if you don't get to dress them ridiculously sometimes?".
Standard wagon ride gear- sheriff hat, maracas, rubber ducky, and PJs.

Ella and Chris at the train exhibit in Dallas.
Ella's getting better at her photography skills. We're working on making sure her fingers aren't over the lens.
Happy New Year! Landon, Ella, Aubry, and Avery.
Getting better with the self-portraits (never mind the other 50 I deleted...)
Ella and Aubry at the Zoo.
Vera and Ella
She did this all on her own, no coaching from me. I was afraid she was going to break an ankle, but she managed to make a few spins around the room.
Ella loves wearing this apron. I'm thinking about having it mad into a dress for her since I don't get to use it very often and she likes it so much.
The last couple of months have been a little crazy. First it was the holidays, then we got hit with the plague. Seriously, Ella started getting sick the day after Christmas and then one or more of us has been sick non-stop for three weeks. Ella bounced back quickly from her cold and stomach bug thankfully, but she was definitely dragging a bit. I think she watched more tv during that three weeks than she has all the rest of her life put together. Everyone is well now and we're getting back to a routine.

Ella likes to insist she is still a baby, but really she's a little person. She carries on conversations, she remembers whole stories and songs, her memory of events and people is amazing. She has pretty strong opinions about what she wants and how things should be done, but she's generally pretty cooperative and good natured. She is two, so she certainly has her moments, but it's almost always when she's hungry or tired.

I feel like I say this about every age, but I really am enjoying this stage. She's so much fun, so smart, sweet, and funny. Every day is something new.

Christmas Pictue Post

We had a wonderful Christmas. Ella got everything she wanted and then some. She's a lucky girl! I think the snow might have been the highlight of her Christmas though, she was so excited.

Christmas Festivities

Ella on the snow hill at the Mansfield Holiday Festival. She loved it, even if you can't tell from this picture. She immediately asked to go again.
Ella watching the fireworks after the tree-lighting. She really liked them and wasn't at all bothered by the noise.
Best seat in the house.
Watching the train go by at Mellow Mushroom waiting the Arlington Holiday Parade to start.
Side show from the parade.

Ella and Maggie at the Hurst Tree-Lighting.

Ella in the bounce house.

Meeting Santa for the first time, she wasn't impressed. Mrs. Santa was a bigger hit. Although she did really well with the whole thing (despite never smiling) she started worrying about me taking her back to Santa. We would get in the car to go somewhere and she would say "I don't want to go see Santa".   By the time Christmas Eve came around she had decided she didn't want Santa coming down her chimney in the middle of the night. We compromised that he could bring the presents to the front door and Mommy would hand his cookies and milk out to him. Very sensible if you ask me.

Ella eating a snowman cookie.

Checking out the Main Street Christmas tree in downtown Fort Worth.

Ella is a fan of gingerbread men.

Playing in the giant ribons and candy.

What's in here?

Checking out the Christmas tree. She was so good about not pulling down the ornaments. We made a rule the first day that she could touch the ornaments but couldn't pull them off.

Ella at the Gaylord. We had so much fun checking out all there was to see there. We spent a whole morning there and just barely had time to see it all. We will definitely be making that a yearly tradition.

Ella got up in the sleigh about a million,  I guess she liked it.

Her favorite parts were all the trains. They are all over the place and she loved them.

Nana and Gran met us too which was an added bonus.

Ella and Mommy eating brunch at the Gaylord.

Checking out one of the many Christmas trees.
