32 Weeks

We kind of gave up trying to give Ella pureed food. She doesn't seem to like it and she gags so much. I had heard of baby-led-solids a while back, which is basically giving the baby food they can feed themselves and allowing them to do so. I didn't give much thought to it at the time, but since it's been so difficult getting her to eat, we thought we'd give it a try. The food has to be big enough for her to hold and still have some sticking out of her hands that she can chew on. We started with mangoes. She did really well with it. She still made a bit of a face, but she went right on gnawing on it. She doesn't actually eat much of it, but it's a start. We gave her green beans this week as well and she seemed to like those even more than the mangoes.

We've been giving a Ella a big girl bath a few times a week. She was a little wobbly at first and fell over a couple of times, but she seems to have gotten the hang of it. She'll only stay in 10 or 15 minutes and then she starts trying to pull up on the side or get me to pick her up.

Speaking of pulling up... I walked in to get her up from her nap on Wednesday and found Ella like this. She's been pulling up to her knees a lot and if there's something there she can use to push herself up to her feet she will. She can take a few steps holding on, but she hasn't really figured that out yet. I lowered her crib mattress right away. That's made it very challenging to get her to sleep. We usually have to let her fall asleep while we rock/walk her and then lay her down in the crib. With the mattress being so low, it's hard to make the transition. I'm sure she'll get used to it eventually, but it's just been one more obstacle in the drama that is Ella's naps. Fortunately she's gone back to sleeping well at night.

We had our last swim lesson until September today. There's going to be one six week class this summer, but we decided we would rather put that money toward season passes to the little water park near our house. That way we can go whenever we want for as long or short a time as we want. We're going to miss our class, but I'm looking forward to a few months of not having to be there at a specific time. It's so hard to do anything at a set time with a baby!
